An update to the smoke filled rooms

When it comes to rank choice voting I believe that rank choice voting is probably the best Implemented in primaries endorsements and other internal voting. We must be removing the old patterns of control, while I will disagree with the two-party system entirely for the rest of my life. it's what we're currently stuck with. if the major parties want to keep two party system they must give up some level of control, the status quo is broken. All it has led to is entrenched incumbents, corruption, ballot access disenfranchisement.

as well it turns the whole process into a giant dick sucking contest. Who has the most personal money and time to suck up to the delegates to show them a good time to influence the process before voting even occurs within the parties. If you imagine there are the smoke-filled rooms, without the smoke and just a bunch of old people sitting around talking shop. what your imagining is the endorsement process, It has nothing to do with who has the best ideas, or could beat the incumbent, it's been this way since the days of FDR and Herbert Hoover.

When FDR originally merged the Farm and Labor party with the Democrats to form the DFL. I don't believe he envisioned this many years later that the Democrats would retreat from labor, farms in rural areas to focus on the blue anchors. (the major cities) The intent of this merger was to counter Republicans and build enough support with Congress for the new deal. Unfortunately, times change, The world moves on, and Democrats find themselves in the same place they found themselves in the 1920s and 1930s. Losing nationally to Republicans. On the verge of a depression. For Democrats to become more competitive again across every state across the country adapting to the 21st century adopting rank choice voting nationally for party endorsement is something they must do, and they must pull away from their FDR control freak 1930s mentality. Either act like a big tent party allow everybody a free fair shot, without the dick sucking contest Or continue to fall in further and further into irrelevance.

This is unlikely to happen because as I said the control is the point, I'm a prime example of this I've been a lifelong Democrat, voted Blue no matter who my entire, I life support 90% of the Democrats policies, but I'm not a Democrat according to the smoke filled rooms, according to them I shouldn't be able to run. This is kind of the clicky elitism that befalls the Democratic Party, It's not so much about advancing new ideas actually fixing problems with practical solutions, I'd say it's not even about towing the party line, they don't do that. without adapting and making changes like rank choice voting for endorsements and primaries, No new ideas will be coming to the party, No new thoughts will be coming to the party, it will just become stagnant.

I've always been a proponent of rank choice voting, but as our current system includes the electoral college. I'm not entirely sure, it's not a plausible route to take for national elections. We would need a constitutional amendment to adjust the electoral college to allow for it. But I think if we were to force both parties to institute it for endorsements, internal party Processes, and primaries. We could get unusual and interesting results. Like Zohran Mamdani who is breathing new life into the party. If we combined first of the finish line voting with the rank choice, The parties will be able to pick out the candidates that can gain the most support, allowing for the easiest transfer of bases from candidate to candidate. Higher voter enthusiasm for the candidates, which in turn increases you guessed it voter turnout which is something we want. Depending on who you ask you may get a different answer.

As well this hybrid system would allow us to keep our favorite first across the finish line, vote first to 51%. We need to be adapting to the 21st century if you people don't want to deal with independent candidates. then you have to open up your primary and endorsement process and internal voting to allow as many people as many people as possible the opportunity to participate in the process. Rank choice voting can do just that because that is what we want as a democracy, as many people participating as possible, We do not want these smoke-filled backroom dick sucking contests. That has led to the entrenchment of politicians. People shouldn't go to work in Congress to die there, They should go to work in Congress to make the country a better place attempt there Ideas and move on.
