Universal Education Program tuition-free Pre-K to College

In America, our public education system is coming under continuous attack from Republicans attempting to privatize education in an apparent attempt make money off of educating our citizens in America. There are multiple ways they are attempting to achieve this. One of the most nefarious ways is by funneling our public tax dollars into private education, under the guise of school choice. School choice for a Republican lawmaker; means nothing more than taking your public tax dollars and giving it to private institutions that already charge exorbitant fees for their services, as to better pad the educational institutions bottom line. I was around during George w Bush’s no child left behind policy and subsequently fell through the cracks, was left behind.

Eventually, I left them behind. I know how bad it can be when schools are micromanaged from a federal level. We have to be forcing the states to have high standards, while allowing them the ability to manage their schools, not only for states rights which is vitally important as Donald trump is demonstrating. After all the only thing Republicans ever care about is a year over year profits, if you can't show year over year profit, you're a failure in the eyes of capitalism. Even if you are just a school or say a post office, The only thing Republicans care about is profit. More often than not republicans will be breaking our public systems so they can say, look they're not making a profit. than think this justifies them in destroy our public systems such as education and health care.

While private education systems have a right to exist and thrive, They are private for a reason. They generally do not choose to use the same standards as the rest of the country, which is perfectly acceptable. This is part of freedom of choice, it’s a good thing. However, I do not feel we should be publicly funding institutions that choose not to use the standards laid out by the state or federal government. If somebody chooses to send their child to a public school, they should have a set standard and expectations from them, the only way to meet those expectations is too fully fund our public education system, in an effort, to do this we should remove funding from private education institutions as they do not serve the greater public.

Since Donald Trump and Republicans have removed almost all funding or made the funding conditional, This gives us an opportunity to not only reinvest in our public education system increasing funding and removing funding from private education, but as well to reimagine the standards to reimagine the entire damn system as a whole. Because if we just keep letting them get away with braking the system, the only way to get an education in this country will be to go massively in debt, Just like the only way to get a higher education in this country is to go massively in debt. And unlike colleges these private education institutions are generally owned by a select few. We can do better, We must do better and to this is our opportunity, I propose a universal education program tuition-free Pre-K to college.

If at some point in our history our forefathers had not envisioned public education and went about trying to execute such an irrational idea as educating every individual in America. Most of us wouldn't be sitting here reading this, their success is a testament to America's willingness to do better by its people. The sheer audacity America brings to the table is America's strength, by being outlandish and investing in our children earlier with universal Pre-K, than maintaining that investment longer into the college level. We can produce a better educated workforce, a better educated population, and a better future for our children. American should not just be happy with the education system they have now. We should be attempting to improve it, I don't think the status quo is ever good enough, there's always room for improvement in a manufacturing setting I would call it continuous improvement. anybody that will tell you we should go back to the old systems; It was fine the way it was. Well, they didn't actually have any contact with the system or if they did it was so long ago that it was actually an okay system.

My son was a beneficiary of pre-K education, between the teachers in his Pre-K and myself. We had him doing two digit math and he was beginning to grasp the concept of carrying numbers doing more advanced math, before first grade. This is a testament to how well our education system can work when we reach as far as possible to reach our children. Personally, I believe our education systems should reach back to as young as 1 year olds, at one a child will tend to be solidifying their verbal communication abilities. This is the ideal time to enrich any developing verbal abilities, with high quality childcare, when parents are forced to be away at work, we can do just that. if we wanted a high number of bilingual or multilingual children who could speak multiple languages, you would want to immerse them in an environment of multi-language. As young as 6 months babies can begin to differentiate between different languages, they can begin to collect the words and sounds that are associated with each individual language and become bilingual or multilingual as a result. So having our education system reach as far back into a child's life as possible will only benefit them throughout their entirety of their life and strengthen America.

The flip side of this equation is college, while I believe college should be free, I do understand that we need to limit it at some point. some professions such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, and politicians, all go on to make extreme amounts of money. we should not be subsidizing professions who have the ability to go on to make a lot more than the average person. Because of this, I believe we should have a cutoff of around the general college courses level, after general courses such as your basic required courses. As you're figuring out the path you would like your college career to take, when you begin to develop into more specialized courses, that is when you should be picking up the tab for yourself. After all it is your specialization, It is not general education any longer. We should be allowing free technical college to better educate our current adult population and our current workforce. This will have the added benefit of removing any skill/labor tensions there are in the job market, It will even allow us to reinvest in the education of people in professions that have suffered at the expense of progress and efficiency. Aswell, America needs a mechanism for producing in-demand skill sets for jobs like nursing, mental health, and education by offering reduced or free tuition for these specializations.

America has always been an audacious country; We do wild crazy, big things for our people; We do big things for the world. Just because a fascist has taken control of the White House, doesn't mean America should stop doing big things; Our education should be no different. We should be doing the biggest things possible to educate our people, these aren't points of indoctrination. Their points of education and that my friend is key to understanding the world around you. Key to questioning the things you see, and the people who run things. By allowing them to remove education via cuts, redirecting funding away from public education, attacking institutions. You allow yourself to be more easily manipulated, More easily fooled more easily lied to and that's the way some people in power would want it. We must not allow them to have their way. We must invest in the future, we must educate ourselves our children from now till the end of human existence, it's an all of our best interest.

If you don't question, they win.
